Not all GP services are covered by the NHS and therefore require us to charge a private fee.
To cover the cost of administering this request (secretarial time to type the report/certificate/letter), checking the appropriateness of the request and the GPs time to compose the letter and to check medical records we do need to charge a fee. We aim to keep our charges reasonable, whilst endeavouring to deal with your requests in a timely manner.
Please bear in mind that these services are over and above the day-to-day priority of providing NHS care.

In addition to this, the GPs at the surgery are asked to provide letters, reports or certificates on behalf of patients to third parties such as insurance companies, to ‘confirm’ that a patient has had a medical intervention (This is only ever provided with the appropriate consent from the patient).
We use a processor, iGPR Technologies Limited (“iGPR”), to assist us with responding to these report requests relating to your patient data, such as subject access requests that you submit to us (or that someone acting on your behalf submits to us) and report requests that insurers submit to us under the Access to Medical Records Act 1988 in relation to a life insurance policy that you hold or that you are applying for. iGPR manages the reporting process for us by reviewing and responding to requests in accordance with our instructions and all applicable laws, including UK data protection laws. The instructions we issue to iGPR include general instructions on responding to requests and specific instructions on issues that will require further consultation with the GP responsible for your care. When the Practice creates an instruction to iGPR, you or any third party will be sent an sms or email informing you that they have received the request and a contact number will be given should you have any enquiries.
